U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States will hand back Iran’s frozen money rather than seize it, arguing that keeping the funds would undermine global confidence in the U.S. dollar. His remarks came at a G7 conference in France, according to BeInCrypto, where he said, “It is not our money. It is their money.” Trump said he had considered keeping the funds but decided against it, warning that otherwise “no one would ever invest in the dollar again.” The report also cited comments attributed to Bessent saying the U.S. has seized about $1 bln of Iranian crypto holdings and believes Iran was stealing $400M–$500M a month.
