Nick Timiraos, described as a close observer of the Federal Reserve, said the Fed’s latest dot plot showed a clear hawkish tilt. According to Jin10, among 18 officials, nine expected at least one rate hike this year, including six who expected multiple hikes.
By contrast, only one official expected a rate cut this year. Timiraos also said one participant—speculated to be Fed Chair Kevin Warsh—did not submit a Summary of Economic Projections.
Timiraos added that the Fed’s policy statement was comprehensively revised from beginning to end and was noticeably shorter. He said the meeting’s overall communication framework changed significantly, and market expectations for the interest-rate path could be recalibrated as a result.
