AMD is securing continuous-wave (CW) laser supply through multiple major purchase orders, Serenity said, citing a TrendForce report.
According to Odaily, Serenity said this may indicate that supply bottlenecks for related components are beginning to emerge.
Serenity said there is limited remaining independent capacity in Western supply chains, with little room beyond SIVE, Applied Optoelectronics, and possibly MACOM, particularly after Lumentum and Coherent signed multi-year agreements with Nvidia that further locked in capacity.
Serenity also said Lumentum has been constrained by CW laser supply and may be sourcing from Japanese companies such as Sumitomo and Furukawa, which Serenity said may also be nearing full capacity.
Serenity added that after Nvidia and AMD signed long-term agreements, hyperscale cloud providers such as Amazon and Microsoft may also try to lock in capacity.
