The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is preparing a policy that would allow crypto companies to offer blockchain-based stocks, as tokenized stock market capitalization stands at more than $6.4 billion. According to NS3.AI, crypto industry insiders expect SEC Chair Paul Atkins to unveil an “innovation exemption” soon.
Atkins has previously said the exemption would be temporary and limited, according to the report. The planned policy would create a pathway for crypto firms to offer tokenized versions of stocks under a defined regulatory framework.
