DK Bank, the only licensed bank operating inside Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC), is developing a crypto banking model spanning nine currencies, including bitcoin-backed lending.
According to NS3.AI, Zheng YD said the bank aims to offer a single account that supports USDT, USDC, U.S. dollars, pounds, and euros.
Jigdrel Singay said GMC has executive, legislative, and judicial autonomy from the rest of Bhutan. Singay also said firms already licensed in Singapore, Abu Dhabi Global Markets, or Hong Kong can use a fast-track pathway to operate in GMC, while maintaining oversight standards.
