Blockstream CEO Adam Back questioned the inflation mechanics of Telegram’s newly rebranded Gram (GRAM) token after Telegram founder Pavel Durov praised Bitcoin (BTC) as protection against government money printing. According to BeInCrypto, Back replied on X that “someone is printing GRAM,” pointing to GRAM’s inflationary supply schedule.
Telegram’s native token was recently rebranded from Toncoin to Gram, with holdings converted 1:1 and exchanges updating tickers. GRAM has no hard supply cap, with validator rewards generating an annual inflation rate of about 0.3% to 0.6% and total supply near 5.2 billion tokens.
