Evelyn Farkas, executive director of the McCain Institute, said the US may incentivize further talks with Iran by unfreezing some assets seized during the conflict after a short-term deal is signed to extend a ceasefire and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. According to Bloomberg, US President Donald Trump told reporters ahead of the G7 summit, after speaking with French President Emmanuel Macron, that his attention is also turning back to Russia and Ukraine now that the short-term deal with Iran is done.
Farkas said Russians have never been weaker — militarily, economically, and politically — than they are now.
