U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 15th that restoring navigation through the Strait of Hormuz would not require much external assistance, during the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Evian-les-Bains, France.
According to Odaily, Trump made the remarks while meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Earlier the same day, Macron said several European countries were prepared to take part in an escort operation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The G7 comprises the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and Japan. France is the rotating G7 chair this year.
The G7 summit is being held in Evian-les-Bains from the 15th to the 17th.
