Congress is considering legislation to establish a Federal Cryptocurrency Theft Task Force within the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to NS3.AI, Reps. Lance Gooden and Josh Gottheimer introduced the proposal after the DOJ disbanded the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team (NCET).
The bill would direct the task force to coordinate efforts focused on cryptocurrency theft. It would also limit the task force’s scope by keeping broader cryptocurrency market regulation outside its mandate.
