Global financial markets are focused on Washington this week as Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh prepares to hold his first post-meeting press conference since taking office. According to Odaily, investors are watching for signs of whether the Fed’s monetary policy communication could shift under Warsh.

Markets broadly expect the Fed to keep its benchmark interest rate range unchanged at 3.50% to 3.75% at this week’s meeting. Attention is centered less on the rate decision and more on how Warsh will shape the Fed’s messaging.

Odaily reported that former chair Jerome Powell often used transparent forward guidance to steer market expectations, while Warsh has previously questioned that approach and said the Fed should not provide markets with excessive hints about future rate moves.

The meeting is also set to release the latest quarterly Summary of Economic Projections and the “dot plot.” Odaily said Warsh has expressed strong dislike for the dot plot and will need to balance respect for the Fed’s decision-making framework with his own policy views.
