U.S. Vice President Vance said the agreement between the United States and Iran was signed electronically over the weekend, meaning its terms are now in effect and Iran will not receive any new funds unfrozen.
According to Odaily, Vance made the remarks on an ABC television program, saying the deal was signed electronically “yesterday” and that no funds are being released, adding that this will not change.
Before the agreement was reached, there had been discussion about completing it through electronic signatures, but Vance’s comments were described as confirming this method.
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the two sides will hold a formal signing ceremony in Switzerland on Friday. In his announcement, Trump said the strait would reopen at the time of the Friday signing, creating conditions for mine-clearing work, and that oil would flow again from both ends of the strait to the region and the world.
