Baron Capital founder and CEO Ron Baron said the firm added $1 billion in SpaceX shares during the company’s IPO stage, bringing its total position to about $25 billion.

According to Odaily, Baron said the additional purchase was mainly intended to hedge against equity dilution and was not a short-term trade.

SpaceX is reported to have a current valuation of $2 trillion. Baron Capital began investing in SpaceX in 2017, when the company’s valuation was under $22 billion, and has participated in 27 funding rounds to date.
