Chilean judicial authorities have opened an investigation into cryptocurrency platform Plusspay, alleging it laundered money for the transnational criminal organization known as the Aragua Train. According to Odaily, the platform is suspected of using affiliated companies to convert fiat currency into stablecoins such as Tether and moving funds through Chile’s banking system.
Authorities said the amount of suspicious funds exceeded $84 million. Plusspay’s office locations have been searched, and founder Jose Manuel Rios Guaido has received an arrest warrant.
