The Israel Defense Forces said its chief of staff, Zamir, stated on June 14 that the military will continue advancing operations in Lebanon to seek more favorable conditions in future U.S.-mediated Israel-Lebanon talks.
According to Odaily, the IDF said Zamir made the remarks while inspecting the northern theater.
The statement said Zamir held a situation assessment meeting with division- and brigade-level commanders in the northern theater.
Zamir said the current regional situation is “sensitive and complex.” He added that while Lebanon is currently the IDF’s “core strategic direction,” the military is also maintaining a high level of alert for potential developments on other fronts.
