OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has canceled a trip to Abu Dhabi that had been planned for this weekend, according to U.S. financial news outlet Semafor.

According to Jin10, a person familiar with the matter said the ChatGPT developer, which has close ties with the United Arab Emirates, is preparing for its initial public offering.

The person said the potential visit had been uncertain amid heightened tensions related to the war situation involving Iran.

Two people familiar with the matter said Altman had planned to meet executives from sovereign wealth fund Mubadala and AI group G42, and to hold talks with their joint venture, the technology investment fund MGX, as well as Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). MGX is an investor in OpenAI.

It was not clear why Altman canceled the trip, the report said.
