Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation issued HKD 12 billion in public digital bonds across three tranches, in what was described as the largest digital bond offering globally to date. According to NS3.AI, the issuance also made Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation the first public institution in Hong Kong to issue a digital bond.
The bonds will use a distributed ledger technology platform operated by the Central Moneymarkets Unit.
