Leaders from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan made a last-minute effort to persuade U.S. President Donald Trump to hold off on military action against Iran after he warned on Thursday morning local time that he would take “very tough measures” against Iran “tonight.”
According to Odaily, Politico reported that the leaders told Trump that a preliminary agreement was within reach.
Government officials and a diplomat said the calls helped convince Trump to temporarily set aside military action.
