JD.com has released an Agent Autonomous Payment Protocol, also known as the Agent Autonomous Payment Protocol (A2P2), designed specifically for autonomous payments made by AI agents.
According to Jin10, the company said the protocol is the first in China built for AI agents to complete payments under defined rules, with each transaction intended to be traceable and auditable.
JD.com said the protocol is meant to move AI agents beyond assisting with shopping-cart actions and waiting for users to manually pay, enabling agents to execute payments autonomously within constraints.
The company added that autonomous agent payments are expected to play a growing role in supply-chain circulation and everyday consumer spending scenarios.
JD.com said A2P2 aims to address trust gaps in payments for an “intelligent economy” and to provide secure, compliant, and supervisable payment infrastructure for future large-scale AI agent applications.
