Mastercard has launched Agent Pay for AI, a protocol designed to let AI agents make micropayments to one another.
According to NS3.AI, Mastercard Chief Product Officer Jorn Lambert said the project is expected to develop into a scalable market within the next five years.
The protocol is intended to record human-granted permissions for AI agents on a blockchain. Mastercard initially selected the Ethereum-based Polygon network to store the permission information.
