El Salvador holds 7,677 BTC worth approximately $480 million five years after Congress passed the Bitcoin Law. According to NS3.AI, the government has continued accumulating bitcoin even after it lost mandatory legal tender status under a $1.4 billion IMF loan condition.
The report said crypto accounted for $17.38 million of Q1 2026 remittances, representing 0.71% of the total.
