MUFG Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Mizuho Bank plan to jointly issue a fiat-pegged stablecoin by fiscal year 2026.
According to NS3.AI, the banks will establish a dedicated discussion group to coordinate business applications and operational arrangements for the stablecoin.
The three banks have conducted joint pilot tests for stablecoin issuance since November 2025, with support from Japan’s Financial Services Agency.
