Gold dealers at Shenzhen’s Shuibei market said sales have weakened as gold prices continued to fall, with many consumers browsing but not buying. According to Jin10, one merchant said that when gold prices were rising, the shop could sell about 2 kilograms of gold in a day, generating roughly 2 million yuan in sales.
The merchant added that recent price declines have reduced purchasing activity. Another dealer said some peers have sold off their gold inventory and switched to other lines of business.
