The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) said mainland China customers can still apply to open Hong Kong bank accounts, even as registered institutions are subject to a three-month review requirement.

According to NS3.AI, the regulator said the overall account-opening process is running smoothly.

The HKMA also referenced a May 22 circular that requires applicants to provide written declarations confirming legitimate sources of funds from outside mainland China.
