Circle has launched Circle Wrapped Bitcoin (cirBTC) on the Ethereum mainnet. According to Foresight News, cirBTC reserves can be independently verified in real time on-chain and are intended for institutional use cases such as OTC trading desks, market makers, and lending protocols.
In an earlier update, Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire said on X that cirBTC was set to go live. He added that users could obtain cirBTC for testing via a testnet faucet on Arc and Ethereum.
