Citrini Research, the firm that sparked fears of an AI bubble in February, has flagged crypto exchange Hyperliquid and its HYPE token as a new “compelling” idea. In a report Monday, Citrini said HYPE “generates legitimate cash flow” and has a buyback mechanism, according to CoinDesk, citing an excerpt shared on social media.
Hyperliquid, a blockchain-based perpetual futures exchange, has generated $1.06 billion in annualized fees and about $220 billion in 30-day perp volume, per DeFiLama. Citrini said over 90% of fees go to an Assistance Fund that buys HYPE; cumulative purchases since January 2025 have surpassed $2 billion.
