AI TRENDS | South Korean Conglomerates Expand AI Partnerships With Nvidia, CEO Jensen Huang Visits Major Firms

Several major South Korean companies are accelerating cooperation with Nvidia to broaden their artificial intelligence businesses. According to Odaily, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang visited SK, LG, Hyundai Motor, NAVER, and other large companies in a single day to discuss cooperation in areas including AI infrastructure and physical AI.

During a visit to LG Twin Towers in Seoul’s Yeouido district, Huang said robotics is one of the key areas of cooperation between Nvidia and LG. The two sides agreed to strengthen joint research and development of humanoid robots, with LG Electronics expanding strategic cooperation with Nvidia across the full development process for next-generation robots such as humanoid and logistics robots.

Hyundai Motor Group is also strengthening cooperation with Nvidia in physical AI. The two sides previously agreed to jointly invest $3 billion in the development of physical AI in South Korea. During his visit to Hyundai Motor Group’s headquarters, Huang said Nvidia will build a data center in South Korea’s Saemangeum area.

Doosan Robotics, a robot manufacturer under Doosan Group, will also deepen physical AI cooperation with Nvidia. The company plans to use Nvidia’s robot simulation toolchain, Isaac Sim, to develop an agent robot operating system.

SK and NAVER are set to work with Nvidia on AI infrastructure. SK hynix will jointly develop next-generation chips with Nvidia for building Nvidia AI factories, extending their long-term technical partnership. SK Telecom will participate in Nvidia Cloud Partners (NCP), a cloud provider ecosystem.

NAVER and Nvidia plan to start a 55-megawatt AI factory next year and gradually expand their AI infrastructure cooperation projects.
