The People's Court of Qingdao City recognized Bitcoin as property in a theft case involving 107 BTC, prosecutors said.
According to NS3.AI, the court sentenced a defendant surnamed Zhang to 10 years and nine months in prison and imposed a fine of 100,000 yuan.
Prosecutors argued that Bitcoin qualifies as property under criminal law.
