Nvidia announced a series of deals in South Korea with partners including SK Hynix, Naver, SK Telecom and Doosan Group as it seeks to secure memory chips and expand its artificial intelligence business. According to RTHK, the companies did not disclose the value of the agreements, which were announced during a trip by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang that began on Friday.
SK Group said SK Hynix signed a multi-year technology partnership to develop advanced memory for global AI data centres, and Huang said the deal was for more than two years with an option to extend. SK Telecom said it will build a gigawatt-scale AI cloud in South Korea using Nvidia technology, with its first AI data centre to come online in 2027.
Nvidia said Naver and Doosan would use its technology to help build AI data centres, while Doosan said it expects its energy solution to be used in Nvidia data centre platforms and that it will use Nvidia’s physical AI technology. Huang also said Nvidia is partnering with LG Group on electronics, mechanical systems and AI for humanoid robots, and on future data centre architecture including cooling and power delivery.
Huang said he planned to meet Samsung’s Jun Young-hyun and Hyundai Motor Group executive chair Chung Eui-sun on Monday.
