Many Germans are open to the idea of a digital euro, according to a study commissioned by Deutsche Bank. The survey, which involved 2,012 German residents, found that half of the respondents could generally imagine using the digital euro as an additional payment option. This sentiment also applies to Germans who were previously unaware of the digital euro.
The survey revealed that 41% of respondents had heard, read or seen information about the digital euro, while 59% said they had a lack of understanding. However, privacy concerns were prevalent among the majority of respondents.
The research report notes that more than three-quarters of respondents believe that privacy issues are very important or important when using the digital euro. Of the respondents surveyed, 59% said that the planned offline version of the digital euro, which is designed to provide a similar level of privacy protection to cash, is very important or important.
