Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company’s new Vera central processing unit will use memory chips from SK Hynix, and the two companies expect to expand cooperation over the next year.

According to ChainCatcher, Huang told reporters on Sunday in Seoul that he had dinner the same day with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung, and SK Telecom executives. Huang said Nvidia’s collaboration with SK Hynix has been large this year and that the companies are preparing for broader cooperation in the second half of this year and next year.

Huang said the Vera CPU will use SK Hynix DRAM. He described Vera as Nvidia’s first standalone data center microprocessor, positioning it against Intel’s Xeon line, AMD’s EPYC chips, and in-house server chips such as Amazon’s Graviton.

Huang arrived in South Korea on Friday to visit partners and suppliers and said he planned to meet Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jun Young-hyun on Monday, along with executives from Hyundai Motor Group and LG Group. He also said Nvidia is in discussions with telecommunications companies about using future telecom networks for artificial intelligence applications.
