A CITIC Securities research note said a recent pullback in U.S. technology stocks was driven by a reassessment of monetary policy expectations, previously crowded positioning, and company-specific noise. According to Jin10, the note said the near-term bullish narrative around AI’s self-reinforcing industry momentum was unlikely to reverse.
However, it said current industry progress still remained some distance from claims that AI commercialization had fully formed a closed loop, and the sector still needed to identify more high-value monetization use cases.
The note added that rising long-term bond yields and the market’s very limited tolerance for negative surprises suggested volatility was likely to remain elevated. It said investors should closely monitor risks from a mismatch between the pace of AI investment and the timing of output, and that tracking a set of high-frequency indicators was a practical near-term approach.
