South Korean retail investors sold more than 1 trillion won worth of overseas stocks in the first week of June, according to data released on Sunday. According to Odaily, Korea Securities Depository (KSD) data showed retail investors recorded net sales of $793.67 million in overseas stocks during the first week of June, extending a net-selling trend that began in April.
The early-June net sales were well above April’s net sales of $469 million and were close to the record $939.77 million posted in May. If the trend continues through the end of this month, it would mark a third consecutive month of net selling, the first such stretch since April to July 2023.
The report said the selling may indicate retail investors could return to South Korean equities following record gains led by semiconductor stocks.
