ARK Invest founder Cathie Wood said the biggest IPO opportunity now arrives before a company ever lists, as firms stay private longer and investors miss the steepest growth. According to BeInCrypto, Wood framed SpaceX’s record filing as the start of a wider late-stage pipeline, and said ARK’s Venture Fund holds six private companies it expects to list.
ARK said the median US company now waits 12 years to go public, up from five years in 1999, citing data also tracked by University of Florida professor Jay Ritter. Wood pointed to OpenAI, Anthropic and Databricks as examples of firms reaching scale while private.
