US stocks close: Apple is close to returning to the "3 trillion" club, the China index fell nearly 1%

U.S. stocks closed Tuesday, with the Dow initially closing up 130 points or 0.34 percent and the S & P 500 and Nasdaq edging higher. Apple (AAPL. O) rose 0.16 percent, with a market capitalization approaching $3 trillion. NVIDIA (NVDA. O) rose 1.2 percent and was worth $2.86 trillion. The Nasdaq China Gold Dragon closed down 0.99 percent, NIO (NIO. N) fell more than 2 percent and Alibaba (BABA. N) rose 0.7 percent.
