The founder of Zcash has confirmed a significant vulnerability in the Orchard protocol that could have enabled the creation of unlimited ZEC. According to NS3.AI, this flaw was present from May 2022 until it was recently addressed. Due to the anonymity features of the Orchard pool, it is impossible to ascertain whether the vulnerability was exploited.
