Vanguard Group's ETF tracking the S&P 500 index has surpassed $1 trillion in assets, becoming the first ETF globally to reach this milestone, according to multiple U.S. media reports on June 3. The ETF, identified by the ticker VOO, has a management fee of 0.03%, significantly lower than its main competitors. According to Jin10, the surge in the fund's size is primarily driven by the AI investment boom in U.S. stocks and the global shift of capital towards low-cost passive products.

Analysts have noted that the waiting period for new stocks to be included in the S&P 500 has been reduced from 12 months to 6 months, and Nasdaq has implemented new rules for rapid IPO index inclusion. This change is expected to direct massive passive funds towards major upcoming listings like SpaceX and Anthropic. Once these companies are quickly included in mainstream indices, trillion-dollar passive funds like VOO are expected to increase their holdings accordingly.

Vanguard Group, founded in 1975, operates under a shareholder ownership structure. As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, its global assets under management were approximately $12.32 trillion (12.32万亿美元). The company has reshaped the global fund industry with its low-fee index investing approach and is considered one of the three major asset management giants in the U.S., alongside BlackRock and State Street.
