On June 3rd, Matter Labs CEO Alex Gluchowski said that the decision of the Ethereum Layer2 blockchain Linea to stop block production following the Velocore hack highlights the need for Layer2 to prioritize decentralization as early as possible.
Declan Fox, head of product at Linea, agrees. He agrees that decentralization is necessary, but he stresses that the network is moving "solidly" towards decentralization, and that the time window required is much shorter than many of its competitors. Declan Fox wrote: "Given that many of the Rollup frameworks that have emerged two years before us have not advanced further, I am quite satisfied with our progress."
