The decrease in popularity of Ordinals and Runes has led to a decrease in on-chain fees for Bitcoin
2024-06-02 04:23:24
At the beginning of 2024, Bitcoin's total transaction fees skyrocketed. After the April halving event, fees rose sharply, reaching a record high at one point. Among them, on April 20, transaction fees reached a peak of 1,257.71 BTC, accounting for more than 75% of miners' income on that day. While fees have recently fallen back to levels similar to those seen in mid-2023, there has been an upward trend recently. The increase in transaction fees indicates that the feasibility of a shift in the income structure of miners is that the sustainability of Bitcoin in the future depends on fees. Once all bitcoins have been mined, this will inevitably require a change in the income structure.
