U.S. stocks close: stock indexes collectively close down, Faraday Future tumbles 60%

U.S. stocks closed Wednesday with the Dow initially down 400 points or 1 percent, the S & P 500 down 0.7 percent and the Nasdaq down 0.58 percent. NVIDIA (NVDA. O) rose 0.8 percent to a fresh closing high, and Faraday Future (FFIE. O) closed down 62 percent on its first trading day after its performance. The Nasdaq China Jinlong index closed down 0.84 percent, XPeng Motors (XPEV. N) fell 2.7 percent and Alibaba (BABA. N) fell 1.8 percent.
