Sergey Glazyev, Minister of Integration and Macroeconomics at the Eurasian Economic Commission, said on Monday that the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is further promoting local currency settlements, while hoping to establish a new payment settlement system and considering the use of digital currencies for settlements.
In response to the issue of trade settlement between China and Russia, Glazyev said that digital currency settlement can be used, and digital currency and gold are considered to be linked. Some necessary settlement infrastructure is currently being established to promote the integration of national payment systems, so that the Financial Institutions Group and banks of various countries can further cooperate.
