On May 28th, OpenAI formed a committee led by Sam Altman to evaluate the safety and safeguards of its artificial intelligence models. The governance change comes just weeks after the executive responsible for the field resigned and the company disbanded its internal team.
The new committee will spend 90 days evaluating the safeguards for OpenAI technology and then submit a report. Following a full board review, OpenAI will publicly share the recommended updates that have been adopted in a manner consistent with safety and security standards.
