EU Proposes Centralized Oversight of Major Crypto Institutions

The European Union is advocating for the consolidation of regulatory authority over large cryptocurrency institutions under the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). According to Foresight News, Malta has openly opposed this initiative. If the proposal advances through the EU Council and Parliament this summer, Malta may be required to relinquish its direct regulatory control over leading crypto entities to ESMA.
