Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission spokesperson: No comment on considering allowing collateralized ether ETFs
2024-05-25 02:28:03
Bloomberg previously disclosed that Hong Kong is considering allowing exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that directly invest in ether to staking. According to the news, the Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission and virtual asset ETF issuers are discussing the matter of staking through licensed platforms. It is reported that the negotiations are underway and there is no clear timetable, but a spokesperson for the Hong Kong Securities Supervision Commission has said that it will not comment on the matter. Market participants pointed out that after the addition of the staking function, the ether ETF will become an interest-bearing asset, which will be a milestone. If approved, the staking yield is expected to further increase the demand for spot virtual currency ETFs in Hong Kong.
