Hong Kong's Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, which completed its investigation into Worldcoin's Worldcoin project, stressed on Thursday that it had issued an enforcement notice to Worldcoin, but did not say whether it would comply with the regulator's ruling, suspend biometric data collection activities in Hong Kong, or address participants' concerns, according to the South China Morning Post. The Cayman Islands-based Worldcoin Foundation, the backer behind Worldcoin, said it was disappointed by the Hong Kong regulator's view that its operations were legal and designed to comply with laws and regulations governing data collection and use in Hong Kong and many other markets, saying that "unfortunately, these aspects were overlooked in Hong Kong when evaluating the human verification process."
