非营利组织生命未来研究所（The Future of Life Institute，简称 FLI）曾在 2023 年提交的一份鲜为人知的欧盟透明度文件中披露，2021 年 5 月，其收到了以太坊联合创始人 Vitalik Buterin 捐赠的价值 6.65 亿美元的 Shiba Inu（SHIB）。
FLI 的发言人 Ben Cumming 表示：“大部分资金已经转入捐赠者建议基金和其他主要提供资产管理服务的非营利机构。这是非营利组织管理大量资源时的常规设置”。
Vitalik 对此未置评。在去年 11 月的一篇博客文章中，他担心人工智能可能成为“地球上新的顶级物种”，并可能“永远终结人类”。据悉，FLI 呼吁各国政府要求人工智能开发获得许可并实施其他安全规则，其可能会动用 Vitalik 的部分捐赠来建立其在华盛顿的直接游说活动。（Politico）
