The Federal Reserve's latest annual household survey reported last year that the number of U.S. adults who own or use cryptocurrencies fell to about 18 million.
According to the Federal Reserve's Survey of Household Economics and Decision Making (SHED) released on May 21, 7% of U.S. adults surveyed said they had used cryptocurrencies in the 12 months ending last October, down from 10% in 2022 and 12% in 2021.
Only 1% of adults say they use cryptocurrencies as a payment method or to send money, down by half from 2022, while 7% buy or hold cryptocurrencies as investments.
