Venture capitalists are expected to invest around $12 billion in crypto projects in 2024, according to PitchBook estimates. While venture capitalists have backed application-layer startups such as Coinbase during previous bull markets, the research firm says backers will be back to basics this year. Robert Le, a cryptocurrency analyst at Pitchbook, says we haven't seen any app receive as much investment this cycle. Instead, venture capital firms are looking at infrastructure projects.
In Quarter 1, venture capital investment in the cryptocurrency space increased by 40% from the previous quarter to $2.40 billion.
