Microsoft faces a multi-billion dollar fine in the European Union for Bing AI. If Microsoft does not respond to information requests by May 27, it will face a fine of up to 1% of its annual revenue in the European Union. The threat stems from a request under the European Union Digital Services Act regarding the company's Bing search engine and its associated artificial intelligence-generating services.
It is worth noting that these fines have not yet been collected, and as of now, Microsoft has not been found guilty of violating any European Union law - at least not specifically related to this notice. Instead, it seems more like a polite notice to the public that the company has effectively received the request for further information and will suffer consequences if ignored.
