National Bureau of Statistics: Employment situation is generally stable, urban surveyed unemployment rate decreases

On May 17th, from January to April, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate averaged 5.2%, down 0.2 percentage points from the same period of the previous year. In April, the national urban surveyed unemployment rate was 5.0%, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous month and the same month of the previous year. The local household registered labor force surveyed unemployment rate was 5.1%; the foreign household registered labor force surveyed unemployment rate was 4.9%, of which the foreign agricultural household registered labor force surveyed unemployment rate was 4.5%. The urban surveyed unemployment rate in 31 major cities was 5.0%. The average weekly working hours of employees in enterprises across the country were 48.5 hours.
