Xi Jinping holds small-scale talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin

On the morning of May 16, Chinese President Xi Jinping held a small-scale meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Xi Jinping pointed out that China-Russia relations have gone through three-quarters of a century and have withstood the test of the changing international situation. They have set an example of mutual respect, candid treatment, harmonious coexistence, mutual benefit and win-win results between major powers and neighboring countries. Over the years, I have met with Mr. President more than 40 times, maintained close communication, and provided strategic guidance to ensure the healthy, stable and smooth development of China-Russia relations. Today's China-Russia relations are hard-won and deserve to be cherished and cared for by both sides. The stable development of China-Russia relations is not only in line with the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples, but also conducive to regional and even world peace, stability and prosperity. On the new journey, China is willing to always work with Russia as a good neighbor, good friend and good partner who trust each other, continuously consolidate the friendship between the two peoples for generations, jointly realize the development and rejuvenation of their respective countries, and work together to safeguard world fairness and justice.
